SUMMERTIMEINNORTHERNMICHIGAN::Being born into a small family was difficult enough, imagine being a mythical creature too. Sydney was born about 17 years ago. Her mother and father were ecstatic to have her, though they were new to the experience. Kristen was happy to have her sister by her side though. So Sydney grew up with the love and care any baby needed. As she approached being a little older, her cousin Leah started to pick on her about everything. Sydney finally got used to being pushed around and started to kind of ignore the cousin that she loved and looked up to so much. Finally Leah got tired of it and called a truce with herself about Sydney. They soon became inseparable, until Leah became older and Sydney became the old friend that everyone seems to forget about a lot. Sydney made new friends, becoming the social butterfly. Soon that was all her mother called her, was her little butterfly. Sydney became older and older. She soon knew why Leah had left her in the dust.
Sydney always seemed to make her parents proud when it came to school. Sydney was amazing in every subject. You could ask her a question and she would know the answer. The principal and her mother soon came to an agreement, Sydney was too smart to stay in her grade. When she turned 14, she ended up skipping the ninth, and tenth grades. Though they made her take the twelfth grade when she 16, she flew through it and was the valedictorian. She graduated with high honors and was accepted at the one school she ever wanted to go to. New York University.
The shock that it brought her, majoring in the performing arts, and minoring in business, Sydney went through a transformation when she was accpeted. When she called to tell her mother the great news, her mother was driving. Sydney didn't know and her mother was so excited she lost control of the car. Running into a ditch, Kristen almost lost her life. There was no denying that Sydney had thought it was her fault for a while, but the result of the crash and the acceptance scared Sydney the most. She had become a shape-shifter. She could be a wolf, or a human being at any moment in time. She never knew what to think of this. She learned to control it by the time that she had picked out her apartment and moved to New York to attened NYU. She was happy almost all the time and was almost never in wolf form. She took to track and many friends in the school. She was a happy normal girl. What made her even happier was when her mother told her of some of the best news in her life, her cousins, the Clearwaters, were shape-shifters too. When she found out that their friend, Jacob Black was moving to New York, she offered him a room and waited for an answer.

Sydney woke up one morning and went through her normal routine. Shower, get dressed, eat. Simple, yet effective. She needed something to get her through the crazy college mornings. She ate slowly this morning, thinking about everything in her life. She knew she was not normal, and she accepted that, she just wondered about everything.'
In one of her many conversations with Leah, she learned that Leah could not imprint. She wondered about herself. Sometimes that was all she could think about. Will I end up like Leah? Will I ever be able to imprint? She thought about it more than she should sometimes. When her mother came to visit and Sydney thought about it, her mother worried. Sydney's favorite thing to do was learn. Lines, new lessons, everything. Her life was learning and Sydney enjoyed that.
She looked up at the clock after her long thinking session and realized if she did not hurry she would be late for her first class. She finished her breakfast, grabbed her bag containing her laptop, homework, and books needed for the day, finished her cup of coffee and ran out the door to her car. As she drove to school she thought about what the day would bring. Hopefully a call from home, and made it to the classroom just in time.
