Love is a powerful thing. So powerful that, when used right, it can melt even the most frozen of hearts. Love is also very strange. Some people use it as a front, to hide their true feelings. The words, 'I love you', are tossed around so often that it's hard to believe when they hold actual meaning to them. But there are a few select people, who actually keep meaning in those three words. These people are the ones worth loving. Who don't love without cause. Who don't just toss the words around like they are just there. Like they're no better than the word 'the'. These people are the gems of the world.
This story is not about the words I love you. But they do play a part. Love plays a part. Because, this story is about two young girls. Their names are not important, just yet. But you will be told them eventually, trust me. This story is about, how these two girls found each other, and brought each other out of their shells. How they saved each other from many different things. But believe me, this story does not have a happy ending. I'm warning you now. If you don't like two girls falling in love with each other, and having their relationship crash and burn, then I suggest you close this page and find a different story to read.
However, if you do not mind reading those types, then you may continue on reading. For those that have chosen to continue reading, I should tell you, that this story is based off of true events, and there is someone behind every character that you will meet. Some circumstances have been changed, but the main ideas are the same as what happened to these two girls in reality.
The story starts when the girls are eleven years old, and continues until they turn 17. 6 years, and it details how their relationship turned from being outsiders, to being all each other has, to falling in love, to being enemies. When the story begins, you will be introduced to these girls, I give you my word. If you wish to continue reading, then do so. If not, then turn back.
I'll update as soon as I can. I will not reveal who anyone is. If you can figure it out, please keep it to yourself, as this story is personal. I will say, that I am in this story. But I will not reveal my character. My law.
Note: I made a Polyvore collection with images of the characters. I'll also be making sets for scenes from the story.

This is the first chapter. I'm still not saying who I am in this story, but eventually you might be able to figure it out, if you know me. Because, when I came into the roleplay world, will be put into this story. Which tells you, my coming here, affected this friendship.
Alexandra McCay walked into the front office. It was regulation that you pick up your class schedule before you headed to your first class. Obviously, because you needed to know just where you were headed. She looked down and saw that she had english first period. English was a good class, for Alexandra loved to write. It was one of her dreams to become a writer when she was older. She pushed the schedule into a pocket of the bag that was slung over her shoulder. No one dared to mess with her. It wasn't that she fought people every five minutes. But something had happened that changed her life. That made her un-trusting to just about everyone. It made her a fighter. She'd never speak of that incident. It hurt to much to do so. She pushed past all of the guys and girls. Guys that wanted her, and girls that hated her. That's how it always was. Most of the guys that attended this low class school, were only after one thing. And word around school was that Alexandra was a real slut. But that wasn't completely true, sure she had had boyfriends since she was 7, but that didn't mean she'd had sex with any of them. She'd only had sex once, and it couldn't really be considered sex. He should've been sent to prison or something. It wasn't sex, it was more of molestation. By her brother's friend. When she told her older brother, Micheal, his friend was never the same. It was good that she had Micheal to back her up on things.
She pushed the door open to her first period English class. Ahead of her, she saw a girl there. KayKay, it was a nickname that she had given the girl. Her best friend since Second Grade. And the cause for her being secluded from everyone else. The person who made her ruin the friendship she cherished. She gave a small smile. Which was all she did now. She didn't smile brightly anymore. She hadn't done it in about 4 years now. The last day she smiled, was the last day of her second grade year. When she arrived at her old friend's house, with the full intent of apologizing for choosing KayKay over her, when she realized... her friend was gone. The house was for sale, and there was no sign of her. Alex cried that night. She'd never really cried before, but she cried.
Alexandra chose one of the seats, one that was next to KayKay, and sat down. She pulled out a notebook, one to take notes in. KayKay was doodling quietly in her own notebook. KayKay was never one to pay attention in class. Alexandra rolled her eyes at her friend, as she looked ahead of her. The bell hadn't wrung yet, so there were still people coming in.
"Is this seat taken?" Alexandra looked up and saw a girl standing there. She looked down at the seat to her left. It was empty. And who would she have to wait on? She didn't have anyone. Anyone but Micheal and KayKay.
"No." She said, simply. She didn't feel like having a complete conversation with this girl. She never liked talking to people outside of her personal circle. The girl smiled at her, and sat down. Alexandra eyed her for a moment, before she went back to her notes. Finally the bell rang. Which set the class into motion. Silence. Alexandra liked silence. The teacher explained the rules of the class, as well as gave out a supply list for the year. It was the student's responsibility to get all of the supplies listed for the year. Same old thing. It was told all across the school. The teacher let them have some time to talk, and get to know each other. Typical. All teachers did that on the first day of school. It was a better way to get the students to talk to one another, and not to form rivalries. All of the students came from one of three schools. The school Alexandra went to, was in a different area of the city. KayKay turned her attention to one of the guys in the class, leaving Alexandra alone. She rolled her eyes at her friend. KayKay was such a slut. Alexandra began doodling in the corner of her notebook. Before she knew it, she realized that she was being watched. She turned her head to the side, and saw the girl from earlier. "Can I help you?" Why should she be nice to someone she didn't even know. Alexandra had learned to build a wall around her. Just in case someone like... her... came along again.
"I'm Miranda." The girl said, holding out her hand. Alexandra looked at the outstretched hand, and then looked at the girl. Finally, she decided to just be nice. What did she have to lose? She took Miranda's hand in her own, and shook it.
"Alexandra." She said. She didn't smile. Again, it had been years since she smiled truly. Damn her for making this big of an impact on Alexandra's heart.
"Where'd you come from? I came from Ridgewood." Miranda said. The schools in the Ridgewood School District, were Ridgewood, Travis, and Bluebonnet. Ridgewood was just a couple of blocks away from Ridgewood Middle School. The school they were in now.
"Travis." Travis Elementry School was where Alexandra came from. KayKay and her had been there since they started school. It was also where she went. Alexandra looked down at her notebook.
"You're not much of a talker, are you?" Miranda asked. Alexandra was starting to get annoyed with this girl.
"Is it that obvious?" She asked, flatly. She didn't like being bothered, and Miranda was doing a good job of bothering her.
"Well, when you decide to get off your high horse, you should sit with me at lunch. I don't really have anyone else to sit with." That caught Alexandra's attention. Sure, KayKay was a great friend, but she was more of an acquaintance. They rode the bus together, and lived in the same place, but that was it. They didn't speak much after that. Alexandra pulled her attention from her notebook, and looked at Miranda.
"Sounds like a plan. I don't really have any friends around here. I mean, KayKay can be considered a friend, but she's not really." Miranda smiled at her. And Alexandra managed to put on a small, awkward smile. Then the bell rang.
"See you at lunch Alexandra!" Miranda said as she left the classroom. Alexandra glanced down at her schedule. History, then Gym. Eww to both. Then lunch. She just had to make it through two more classes, then she could be with someone she knew.
History class. It wasn't entertaining in the least. Alexandra ignored most of the students in the class. The only ones that wouldn't leave her alone, were the boys. Finally the class settled down enough so that the teacher could talk. It was the same as English class, without having Miranda to talk to, or KayKay to ignore. Alexandra kept her head down as she wrote. She wrote a lot of things in her personal journal. Poems, songs, stories. She was a writer of course.
Gym was next. Oh, how Alexandra loathed gym class. She hated it, like every other girl in the school. She entered the gym, and asked the teacher where to sit. When she was told, she set her bag with everyone else's, as was regulation. She sat down on her little spot, and pushed her long hair out of her face. Once the bell had rung, the coach began calling off names. Alexandra twirled a strand of her hair around her finger, while she waited to hear her own name. But she was in for the shock of her life, when she heard 3 words. From two different voices.
"Elizabeth Holt?"
"Here." Alexandra didn't want to turn around. She didn't think she could bear it. Elizabeth Holt. The name of Alexandra's best friend, from second grade. Alexandra's breath caught in her throat, so much that it took her a second to realize her name was being called. She said that she was hear, and turned around. She locked eyes with someone. She was sure that it was Elizabeth. Her Elizabeth. Elizabeth looked at her for a moment, and Alexandra could see that Elizabeth was feeling the same thing she was. Recognition, longing.
Alexandra spent the entire gym period, trying to figure out if that was really the Elizabeth Holt that she knew. Her best friend. Finally the bell wrang, and Alexandra couldn't wait to get out of the gym, and into the lunch room. The two buildings were right next to each other. Once inside, Alexandra saw Miranda. She walked over to her, with her small, awkward smile in place.
"How were your other classes?" Miranda asked. Alexandra thought back to them.
"They were.. okay. Class, I guess. I had History and Gym. Hey, do you know Elizabeth Holt?" She asked. Maybe she was going fast with this, but she needed to know. Miranda nodded, and seemed to go into thought, as Alexandra sat down next to her, waiting.
"She attended Ridgewood for a couple of years, then left for a year. When she came back, she didn't talk at all. She'd only talk if spoken to, and when she did, it was in a quiet voice. My mom used to watch her for her parents while they were at work. She lives down the street from me actually." That told her nothing. Absolutley nothing.
"Where'd she go for that year?" She asked. Miranda went off into thought again.
"I think she went to Travis." Bingo. It was her. Her Lizzie. Alexandra looked up, and spotted said girl, looking around for a place to sit. She definatly had the awkward 'I don't belong' thing.
"Elizabeth!" Alexandra called over. Elizabeth turned to look at Alexandra. Alexandra waved her over to the table. Miranda smiled at Elizabeth, who smiled back. "Come! Sit." Elizabeth, nodded and walked over to the two girls, setting her food tray down, and sitting down, quietly. She didn't mutter a word at all. Alexandra looked at her. Maybe she didn't remember her.
"Hey Lizzie. How are you? How's the house?" Miranda asked. Elizabeth looked up at Miranda, glanced at Alexandra, then looked back at Miranda.
"I'm okay. The house is pretty cool. We got a cat. Her name was Prudence when we got her. But we named her Chloe." She said. Alexandra smiled, without knowing it. "How are you two?" Elizabeth asked. Alexandra was almost afraid of speaking herself.
"I'm okay. Oh, by the by. Lizzie this is Alexandra. She's in my English class." Elizabeth smiled quickly, before turning her attention back to the table.
"Alexandra McCay. Elizabeth..." Alexandra said. She wanted, no needed to know if Elizabeth remembered her.
"I thought you didn't remember me." Elizabeth said. Miranda looked between the two of them with confusion.
"I thought you didn't remember me." Alexandra replied. Elizabeth looked at Miranda.
"We knew each other before. When I went to Travis. We were friends."
"Great friends. I was... torn apart when I went to your house, and found you were gone, Lizzie." Elizabeth looked at her.
"I didn't leave, until the end of the year. You ditched me for KayKay, in March. I spent two months, spending time with Kevin. You remember Kevin, that annoying kid that no one liked. Yeah, I spent two months, with him as my only friend. Because of you, and her." Elizabeth stood up. Alexandra could see that this topic was upsetting for Elizabeth, and she didn't know why. Elizabeth looked at Alexandra, with anger in her eyes. "I mourned our 'friendship' for four years. And finally gave up. You can only have one best friend, remember?" With that, Elizabeth walked away. Outside, the school had set up a small area for the students to mix and mingle. The courtyard is what everyone called it. Alexandra watched her old best friend leave, before she sunk back into her chair. Miranda looked at her.
"What was that about?" She asked. Alexandra crossed her arms on the table, and buried her head in them.
"I don't know... I don't know at all." She said. She didn't plan on things going this bad. Maybe a little, but she expected Elizabeth to be happy to see her, not to freak out, and run away. Alexandra turned head, so that she was facing outside. Through the glass windows, she saw Elizabeth sitting underneath the tree, and burying her head in her knees. The other students passed her by like she was invisible. Was she invisible to them? Like Alexandra.
Alexandra was determined to find out what Elizabeth's problem was. Why she was suddenly hated. She couldn't remember ever doing anything to hurt Elizabeth. But it seemed like she did. So, she needed to find out what.

I had a dream about Alexandra the other day. Which is why I was able to finish this chapter so fast. This chapter takes place right after Elizabeth left the cafeteria. Next chapter, will have skipped a couple of weeks. Halloween night to be exact.
Why was she so angry? So... scared? She should've known that Alexandra would be attending Ridgewood Middle School. Elizabeth wiped her eyes on her sleeve. She should've known. But, Alexandra couldn't be so bad anymore, because Miranda seemed friendly with her. And, though Elizabeth and Miranda didn't speak much, she knew Miranda had good taste in friends. Miranda was similar to Elizabeth, in that they both kept to themselves. Although Miranda was more out going, and talked to people more often. Elizabeth didn't talk to anyone at all. It was too hard to.
She looked up, as she heard footsteps coming towards her. She had her hand on the strap of her backpack, ready to stand and leave. She was used to it. Someone telling her to move. She didn't like being in anyone's way. But the footsteps stopped right in front of her. Then started towards her again, and sat down at her side.
"You okay?" Elizabeth looked over at Alexandra who was looking at her concerned. Elizabeth looked back at her feet. She hated this girl. She cried just about every night now, because of how much she hated Alexandra... and how much she missed her. Alexandra had been her best friend. And then it ended. Like that.
"Is it that obvious?" She asked, sarcasm in her voice. Just because she didn't like to talk, didn't mean that she had to be nice to everyone. Stereotype. Quiet people were nice. Hell no they weren't. Most of the quiet people hold grudges, things that they keep secret from the world. Dark secrets. Secrets that could kill.
"What's wrong?" Alexandra asked. Elizabeth looked at her, with anger in her eyes.
"What's wrong? Are you that stupid? Do you really not know why I hate you?" Elizabeth asked, anger seeping through her voice now. How dare, Alexandra come over like nothing was wrong.
"No. I don't." Elizabeth rolled her eyes, then she stood up.
"Good. Because I do. And it's killed me everyday." Alexandra looked at her.
"Lizzie, listen. Whatever I did, I'm sorry." She said, standing up, and grabbing Elizabeth's arm lightly. She didn't want Elizabeth to walk off, not when she had so many questions for her. Elizabeth pulled her arm away from Alexandra.
"Don't touch me! And don't call me Lizzie. I'm not Lizzie anymore. Lizzie died. She died when you said to me, that you can only have one friend. Remember that? I do." She said. She could feel tears around the edges of her eyes. It had been 4 years since she had cried at school, and she couldn't believe she was doing it now. Because some ghost from her past had to show up and screw everything up? Elizabeth was fine staying on the sidelines and keeping to herself. Staying away from everyone, and only getting in trouble in school when she wouldn't go 'play' with the other kids. Why bother with them? All they did was tease and taunt her. Elizabeth looked at Alexandra. "Don't expect me to immediately grovel at your feet like every other girl in this school. Just because you act cool, and collected, doesn't mean I have to like you." She said. From the look on her face, Alexandra was taken aback. Elizabeth didn't care. It was good that she was in shock. But something about it, made Elizabeth feel bad about what she said.
"Fine then. Elizabeth, please don't go. Talk to me." Elizabeth shook her head.
"No. I can't." With that, Elizabeth walked away. She wiped her eyes as she walked over to the other side of the cafeteria. One bad thing about Ridgewood High, was that the Courtyard wasn't that big, so there weren't many places to hide. Sure you could hide behind the soda machines, but that was it. And that's where most of the kids were discussing drug deals and gang related activities. It was best to stay away.
When the bell wrung, Elizabeth couldn't be happier. She made her way to her English class. As she sat there, she felt confused. The teacher was talking about a book they were supposed to read over the summer. Elizabeth had heard of no such thing! The teacher didn't even have her on the roster. Her next class was Spanish, where she found out that she was in the wrong class. Actually, her fifth period was English, and she had missed her Science class. Elizabeth was embarrassed, but she returned to English to actually be in her own class. The class went on and eventually Elizabeth got through her first day of middle school. It was tough, and exhausting. Also mildly depressing. Elizabeth smiled when she saw her mother's car ahead of her. As she was walking, she caught Alexandra's gaze out of the corner of her eye. Elizabeth stopped at the Passenger door to her mother's car as she watched Alexandra look at her, before she was pushed into the bus by the other students. Elizabeth broke the gaze and got in.
"How was your first day?" Her mother asked. Elizabeth looked out the window. She loved her parents, but they had been taking care of their broken daughter for years. They knew what pain she felt, and it was tough to bring it up.
"Great." Elizabeth lied. She didn't like making her parents worry about her. She'd never really lied before. But this was a small lie, so who could it hurt? Alexandra wasn't in her life, so why worry about it. "It was really great. My classes were fun." Sorta. She didn't like her Spanish class. The class was dominated by those who could already speak spanish, so the teacher assumed they all could. It was frustrating.
Upon returning home, Elizabeth immediately went into her room. She was hiding from her younger cousin, who was living with her at the time. Her cousin and her aunt. Her cousin had lived with her when she first met Alexandra too. Elizabeth threw herself on her bed and cried.
Alexandra, did the same thing. At the same time that Elizabeth was recovering from her own tears, Alexandra was sitting up in bed, trying to regain her breath. The two girls missed each other greatly. And even though they were so close, it seemed like they weren't going to be friends again.
The next day, Alexandra looked for Elizabeth before school. But she didn't see her. She found Miranda though.
"Hey, Miranda, have you see Elizabeth?" She asked. Miranda shook her head.
"She's at home, sick." She said, shrugging. But, Elizabeth wasn't sick at all. She didn't want to face Alexandra just yet, so she convinced her dad that she was sick. Alexandra was put off by this. She hoped that Elizabeth was okay.
"I hope she's okay." She said. Miranda nodded.
"Me too. Elizabeth loves school. She had to be sent home with a high fever when she was younger, because she didn't tell anyone that she was feeling sick." Alexandra's eyes widened.
"What happened?" She asked. She was concerned about Elizabeth.
"She was out of school for a couple of days, in the hospital. She had some kinda of infection." Miranda said. Alexandra nodded.
"I hope it's not to serious this time..." Alexandra looked over at the other students.
Without Elizabeth, the day went by pretty slowly.
The next day. Day three, Alexandra was exstatic to see Elizabeth walk in with the absence slip. The teacher called everyone in to play a game of dodge ball. What fun. When the chance arrived, Alexandra walked over to Elizabeth.
"Hey, are you feeling alright?" She asked. Elizabeth smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, just a little cold." She said. Alexandra was... in shock a bit. Elizabeth didn't show any signs of resentment for her. Elizabeth dodged as a ball came towards her, but Alexandra caught it. Reflex from both of them. Elizabeth smiled at Alexandra, who smiled back. "I talked to my mom. She said, that I should give you a chance." Alexandra looked at the other side, and aimed for the person who had thrown it towards them. Dead on hit. She smirked slightly then turned to Elizabeth with surprise on her face.
"And...?" She asked. Elizabeth caught a ball that was headed right for Alexandra. Possibly as payback.
"I decided she was right." Alexandra smiled brightly, as Elizabeth tossed her the ball. "I suck at aiming." That was a lie, but Elizabeth wasn't much of a fighter. Sure, she'd fight if needed, but if it was just eh, then she wouldn't. Alexandra threw the ball, and hit some girl.
"So, how have you been? In these years? What's been going on?" Alexandra asked, as she turned away from Elizabeth to watch the other team. She wasn't going to go down easily. See, Alexandra was the complete opposite of Elizabeth, she loved a good fight. She'd start fights just to fight if she could, but she couldn't.
"It's been... okay, I guess. You know, this is the first time I've talked to someone at school really." Elizabeth said, following Alexandra's example. Normally, Elizabeth couldn't wait to be hit, but she was having a good time, and if Alexandra was the same as before, she hated losing, so she wouldn't get hit so easily, and Elizabeth didn't want to break the conversation.
After gym, Elizabeth and Alexandra walked to the cafeteria together. Miranda was already sitting at a table. The table was situated near the stage, which was usually used to different types of productions. Alexandra took a seat at the head of the table, with Elizabeth on her left, and Miranda on her left. Elizabeth started snickering to herself. Alexandra raised an eyebrow at her.
"And, just what might you be laughing at?" She said, looking at her.
"So, are you like the queen of the table or something?" It was at that moment that another girl walked up. Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Miranda looked up at her.
"Can I sit here?" She asked, pointing to the seat next to Elizabeth. The girls nodded. "Thanks. I'm Anna by the way." Elizabeth held out her hand.
"Elizabeth Holt." She said. Anna shook her hand. "And this is Miranda DeLauter, and Alexandra McCay." Both girls waved as if on que. Anna smiled.
"Anna Micheals." She said. Elizabeth looked over at the lunch line. She wasn't hungry though, but it was something to look at. Alexandra looked at her.
"You okay Elizabeth?" Elizabeth nodded.
"Just thinking." Just 48 hours ago, she hated this girl. Now they were having lunch together, and talking, and having a great time. It felt right, but at the same time, it felt abnormal. Like it shouldn't be happening. Why shouldn't it? They were good friends, weren't they? Of course they were.
"Alright..." Alexandra said.
After lunch, the girls went their separate ways. Alexandra went to her Math class, Elizabeth went to her Science class, Miranda went to her gym class, and Anna went to her English class.
That was how it was for a couple of weeks. The girls, Alexandra, Miranda, Elizabeth, and Anna would sit at lunch and talk about things. Soon, their group grew to add more people. Cameron, Ariel, Brittany, and Kate. All were great friends, but also, all were outsiders. They found each other by different places. Some were being picked on, others happened by chance to find the table of the outsiders. That's what others deemed it as. The Outsider's Table. But, the outsiders were happy to be themselves. Happy to have each other. Did it really matter that no one else liked them? No, it didn't. All that mattered was that they had each other. That was all they needed.
