Locking the front door behind her, Gia removed her hat with a sigh and leaned against the door. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and thought about her day. She ignored Boreas, who was rubbing himself against her legs and yipping at her. Her mind was far too muddled with thoughts of him to acknowledge her sweet snow-white Akita.
Pushing off the door, she wandered lazily into the kitchen. As if on auto-pilot, she got herself some green tea from the frigde and poured herself some in a glass. But not before drinking out of the carton. Leaning on her elbows, she sipped at her tea and thought about what she had been thinking about all day: him.
Perhaps she was crazy. She had been dreaming about him for years and years, slowly but surely falling in love with what could only be a figment of her imagination because how she met him was far to crazy to have been real. She still remembered that helpless man she'd found and healed. She remembered the warmth before the blackness took over and she awoke locked up in a cold morgue. He had rescued her, gotten her out without anyone finding out, and then proceeded to chastise her for her lack of discretion about her powers.
Gia didn't even know his name. Was it crazy to dream of a man who's name she didn't know? Perhaps, but she was a little crazy as it was so she didn't see the difference. Still, every time she woke up from a dream with him, she always had a smile on her face and an extra bounce in her step. Gia was more than content to believe that he was nothing but her brain feeding her, her much needed sexual release. And then it happened.
She saw him.
Today, whilst walking through Central Park, she saw him. She wasn't sure at first so she walked faster to get a clearer look and had to pause. He didn't notice her at first but quickly disappeared into the crowd. Her gazing probably only lasted about ten seconds, but those were the most startling, revealing, magnificant ten seconds of her life. Dark and messy brown hair, bright blue eyes, lightly tan skin, that loose tie and infamous trenchcoat. He was real. For the first time in her life, she had real, physical proof that she wasn't insane -- at least not completely -- and that the man of her dreams was very much alive and in her city!
When he had seen her, the look on his face...complete shock, followed by panic. And he ran away from her. Letting her head fall into her hands, she rubbed her face in frustration and sighed. She didn't understand. From the look on his face, he clearly knew who she was so why run? Why not meet her halfway and talk to her? Why not finally tell her his name?
The questions nagged and dug at her until she heard the doorbell ring. Shaking her head of all thoughts of the strange encounter, Gia put a smile on her face, scratched Boreas' ears, and went to answer the door. The person on the other side was not what she at all expected...
