& --- The lights flashed and the music pounded. There was nothing Athenodora liked more than night clubs. They were dark and sweaty and full of sexual energy. The smell of human blood wafted into her nose and made her stomach growl. It had been a long, long journey from Volterra. She had very little to quench her thirst except for a little bit of blood from a very, very frightened airplane steward and some from a tourist the first night she had arrived. It was no secret that Aro would've disapproved of her throwing caution to the wind- not caring who she fed on and where. Aro..No. She wouldn't let him haunt her like this. He was a fool to let her go. Besides...he was dragging her down. She was a free spirit. And here, she was free to bite every single man in this city and not feel guilty. To keep her mind off things, she scanned the crowd for anyone who she might feed on. Thats when someone caught her eye.

Why was he here again? Nightclubs weren't even his scene, he hated the heart-pounding music. It all sounded the same and it merely gave him a headache. But this was where the stupid humans were, the ones that were too drunk or high to care what was happening to them. Ben needed a quick fix and he was just going to drink from a blood pack but then he realized he was out. So now here was, standing in a corner, scowling as he searched the room for his next victim. With a drink in one hand, he leaned against the bar, his grey eyes scanning the dance floor. His jaw clenched as the sound of blood pumping seemed to drown everything out. Finally he watched as a drunken couple stumbled out through a back exit into an alley. Despite his disgust, he casually tossed his drink and followed them out.
It didn't take long for Ben to knock out the male, the guy was drunk enough anyway. As the female cowered against the wall, Ben flicked out his knife and grabbed the collar of her shirt with his other hand. Even as blood crazed as he was, Ben was careful about who he drank from and how he did it. He pressed the knife against the girl's throat and made a cut that was only deep enough to draw blood. In an instant, he was drinking her blood as she whimpered slightly. He only allowed himself enough blood to sustain himself until he was able to get more blood packs. His moment of bliss was cut far too short though. Not only was the blood tainted with the drugs and alcohol the girl had consumed, her memories hit him like a physical blow. Ben growled in anger and tossed her aside carelessly.
He walked back into the nightclub and returned to where he stood earlier, the scowl still etched across his features. Humans, he couldn't stand them sometime. His grey eyes flickered once more through the crowd and landed on a curious character. Another vampire, old like him too. Ben shot her a smirk and walked over to lean against the wall next to her. "Well, well, what are the chances that two vampires like us get stuck hunting in a place like this?" Ben grinned at her and held a hand out. "Ben Kanst."

& --- Athenodora watched him follow the couple with little interest. He was a handsome thing, but that was to be expected. It was only when he re-entered and his eyes found her, that her interest was truly peaked. Another vampire, around her age. A toy. Something she could use and throw away. Or perhaps an addition to her coven. Perhaps even...a mate? However, it was too soon to think about that. For now, she would seduce him. Give him a taste- leave him wanting more. And from there, she would decide. "Well, well, what are the chances that two vampires like us get stuck hunting in a place like this?"She shook his hand gingerly. "Athenodora Delamontre." She hoped he would recognize her good name. It would be nice to be treated like the queen she once was. "It's a pleasure to meet you," she murmured, eyeing him up and down, slowly and grinning a bit. She tilted her chin up a bit. "And how was your little snack?" She asked, her eyes flicking to the door and back. "Satisfying, I hope."

A flicker of what seemed like recognition seem to register in Ben's eyes but he masked it with a smile. "Volturi. I didn't expect to see you out here in New York City," Ben smirked, almost sarcastically. Truth was, he had little respect for the Volturi and their controlling ways. Ben was more of a free spirit and he hated having restrictions set by a bunch of ancient vampires. In his lifetime, he had more than one incident that set the Volturi at edge, Ben never liked authority.
He could feel her eyes looking him over and Ben stood up straighter, slightly on edge. "It's a pleasure to meet you too," he smiled with an amused look. Beautiful and dangerous, something he liked and expected in one with a status as high as hers. His smile faded into a frown as she mentioned his little outing in the alley. He followed her gaze to the door and scoffed angrily. "Humans, it's impossible to find anything decent these day." The bitter taste of the humans blood still lingered and Ben was ready to just start killing people if necessary.

& --- Her smirk faded a little. "Yes. You wouldn't, would you?" She said, a bit monotone. "It seems my dear husband, Aro, had enough with my and my forward thinking. He banished me," she said matter-of-factly "because I refused to be his little silent queen." She examined her nails. "Oh, well. I'm sure he's having barrels of fun with his new, younger, quieter wife." She meets his eyes. "I care not." She laughed a little. "Ah, oh true. Blood is so...tainted these days. Take what you can get, I suppose," she smiled, giving him a smoldering look. Something odd registered in her eyes. "Ben...Kanst was it? I think I remember you now. You gave Aro quite a lot of trouble." Her smile grew wide and dark. She moved towards him slowly until she was only inches away. She planted a rough kiss on his cheek. "Thank you," she whispered in his ear. She pulled back a bit. "Any man who troubles Aro, is most surely a friend of mine."

Ben tilted his head curiously as she spoke. He gave her an apologetic look she explained what happened. "I'm sorry to hear so," Ben shook his head at Aro's need for male dominance. Old habits die hard, especially in the vampire world. "Well, clearly he doesn't know what he's missing out on. The Volturi have never been able to control the rouge wanderers and they stoop to such low levels to get rid of...creativity." It only made him despise the Volturi all the more, they needed to realize that the old ways wouldn't last much longer. "You can't contain the free thinking we posses."
At her laugh, Ben shrugged and nodded in agreement. "I'm always on the lookout for fresh meat. Oh and the police, they always seem to get involved nowadays," he chuckled bitterly. "Vampires are just too well known, can't feed in peace anymore."
He arched an eyebrow at the look she gave him but grinned at her recognition. "I try, I do remember his wife being with him during those council meetings. It's a shame he let you go," Ben murmured softly as she moved closer. His hand instinctively fell to her waist and a shudder ran down his spine at her kiss. "You're welcome. It's something I'm more than happy to do," his eyes met her and he grinned. "A good friend indeed."

& --- She sighs. "It's sad indeed. But, I'm a free agent now," Her eyes light up with a fierce, defiant fire. "No one can cage me. Never again." She says, with a weight of finality. She rolls her eyes and scoffs. "God. Policemen these days. Although, if you can get past the guns, they're actually fabulous prey," She smirks. "I do enjoy a man in uniform," She winks at him in a joking manner. "Besides, the adrenaline adds a nice spark to the blood," She licks her lips a bit, a small, playful growl rising in her throat. After the kiss, she does not retreat. If anything, she presses up a little closer. "Listen...I'm famished..." She takes the front of his shirt and pulls him close. "Want to go grab something to eat? Perhaps make a little game out of it? I hear there's a big to-do in a fancy, invitation-only party with plenty of blood to go around," She grins a little and runs a finger from his clavicle down to his naval. "Want to?"

The look in her eyes, it was something rare that he hadn't seen in a while. It was refreshing to know that it still existed. "Good, besides the Volturi is just a bunch of bitter old vampires. Gotta learn to let go sometimes."
Ben laughed at her talk about policemen. It was all too true. "You know what, maybe that's what it is. Fear," his eyebrows furrowed in thought. It had been far too long since he'd had a decent kill. "The adrenaline, the fear, it's so hard to elicit that response. Or maybe I'm just out of tune."
As she pressed closer, Ben's grin merely turned into a cocky smirk. His hand tightened around her waist, keeping her close. "That sounds absolutely wonderful. How can I possibly turn down such an invitation?" At the feeling of her finger running down the length of his chest, his body stiffened slightly. Cautiously he moved from underneath her to hold his arm out. Always the gentleman, Ben laughed silently at the irony. He was only charming when he wanted to be. "Of course I do. Show the way."

& --- She sighed a bit. "Yes, it's true. Oh well. Those sorry fools will be flat on their faces soon enough. I'm sure they're bound to slip up some day soon." She shrugged, gazing out at the crowd. "Yes. Humans these days," She chuckled a little. "They're so hard to frighten. They're watching movies about serial killers and listening to rock music that fuel their inner darkness. Before long, they're calloused to what they should truly be afraid of." She grinned. "But, people like you and I can bring them around. It won't hurt them to get a taste of what's really out there." She was rather taken with him. He was charming and cocky and his chest wasn't so bad to the touch. Something burned deep down inside of her and she liked it. She hadn't felt this interested in someone since she first married Aro. But Aro soon became boring and pious. He wasn't playful or handsome- only powerful. Ben. Ben was charming and sexy. The doors they could open together, the possibilities- endless. She laughed and took his arm. "This way." She led him out of the nightclub and into the clear evening. The stars were aglow and a few clouds masked the moon now and again. It always pleased Athenodora to kill someone on a night like this. She led him through a dirty alleyway, up a fire-escape and onto the roof. "Ready to jump them?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow and donning a grin. The fun,she thought is only now just beginning.
